Minh Mang King (1791-1841) was the fourth son of Gia Long King and also the second king of the Nguyen Dynasty. He ascended the throne in 1820 and reigned for 21 years until his death. Minh Mang King was considered a very dedicated king with profound knowledge, intelligence and talent. He carried out many reforms in education, economy, military, administration and diplomacy to help the country during his reign, which was the most prosperous period of the Nguyen Dynasty.

Minh Mang King was the king with the most children of the Nguyen Dynasty, he had a total of 143 children.

At the same time, he was also the most severe king, executing his father-in-law for corruption.

In 1841, he died at the age of 49, his acupuncture point is located on the hill behind the door that is always closed in Minh Mang Tomb.

Minh Mang Tomb is praised by everyone as one of the most beautiful and massive architecture of the Nguyen Dynasty. The mausoleum is located on Cam Ke Mountain, Huong Tho Commune, Hue City, about 14km from Hue City. The mausoleum was started in 1840 and completed in 1843.
